When the ph is too high (above 7.6) a quick and simple way to lower the level is to add Pro-Swim Dry Acid. Dissolve the dry acid in a bucket of clean, warm water and distribute the solution evenly over the pool surface at the required rate until the ideal ph is reached. This could take several applications to achieve. High pH can lead to cloudy water, scale formation and poor performance from Chlorine Sanitisers and high Total Alkalinity (TA) can lead to difficulties lowering the pH.

Treatment

To reduce the pH of Swimming Pool Water

  1. Test the water with a test kit, if pH is above 7.6 add pH Minus (Reducer)
  2. The ideal pH range is 7.3 – 7.5
  3. Ensure bathing has ceased before adding chemicals to the water.
  4. Add pH Minus (Reducer) directly to circulating water with water temperature above 200C (for temperatures below 200C add product to 10 litres of clean water in a clean plastic container and add to directly to the circulating pool water.)
  5. Add a maximum dose of 500g pH Minus (Reducer) to 50 M3 (11,000 gallons) to the water at a time.
  6. After 4 hours re-test the water and if necessary follow points 3 and 4 again to reduce pH further.

 To reduce Total Alkalinity (TA)

  1. Test the water with a test kit, if Total Alkalinity (TA) is above 180 PPM add pH Minus (Reducer) and Alkalinity Reducer.
  2. The ideal pH range is 80 – 180 PPM
  3. Ensure bathing has ceased before adding chemicals to the water.
  4. Add pH Minus (Reducer) and Alkalinity Reducer directly to circulating water with water temperature above 200C (for temperatures below 200C add product to 10 litres of clean water in a clean plastic container and add to directly to the circulating pool water.)
  5. Add a maximum dose rate of 1kg to 50 M3 (11,000 gallons) to the DEEPEST POINT of the swimming pool, this application should reduce the TA by 10 – 20 PPM per application.
  6. After 24 hours re-test the water and if required undertake point 5 again to achieve the desired reading.
